Notice of Building Works to our Endoscopy Unit

We will be shortly commencing work to the endoscopy unit of Northgate Surgery – these are rooms based on the ground floor of the surgery.  It is a self-contained area of the surgery and so it should not cause a lot of disruption to patients attending for GP appointments and for service users of physiotherapy, ultrasound and audiology.  The builders will be using an entrance off the main entrance corridor to access the rooms they are working on but there may be some unforeseen disruption to the waiting room as the work gets underway.

The car park will also be affected as the builders require somewhere to store equipment and somewhere to dispose of rubbish, hence there is likely to be a skip in the car park.  Please wherever possible use Morrisons’ car park as room will be even more limited in our car park and this may make you late for your appointment.

The estimated start date for the works is 17th September and they are likely to take 4 weeks.

Appointments for endoscopy will be scheduled to fit round this work.

The law on how we process your personal data has changed.  There are new regulations called the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).  Please see our fair processing notice for adults and children under the Practice Policies tab on the right hand side.

Carers Packs.  We have put them together for Carers and the Elderly which contains a wealth of information on the services available to you.  To obtain a free copy of Northgate's carers pack enquire at Reception.

Wi-Fi is now available for patients in the waiting area to allow easy access to a range of NHS Health mobile apps.  No password is needed.  Simply connect to the Wi-Fi called ‘NHS Wi-Fi’ and follow the registration steps.  Unfortunately we are not able to help with configuration or fixing issues with your device.

Free call blockers will be available to any person living with dementia that is currently receiving scam or nuisance calls.

To get a FREE call-blocking device YES should be answered to the following:

  1. Do you or the person you are applying for receive nuisance and scam calls?

  2. Does the person who would like the call blocker have dementia?

If you answered yes to the above then please apply at:

Clinics & Services

Blood Tests

If the doctor requests a blood test this can be done by making an appointment with the phlebotomist and will be carried out here in the surgery.  We also have two drop-in blood clinics on Mondays and Tuesdays which start at 8.05 and finish at 11.00am. No appointment is necessary.  Please do not arrive before this time as booking in does not start before this.

Cervical Smears

These are easily available during normal surgeries (please tell us when you book). Our Nursing Team is available to administer this test. Smears should be carried out every 3 or 5 years dependant on age. We also have an early morning smear clinic on Wednesdays between 7.00am and 8.00am.

Child Health

Children see the Doctors as usual for illness advice. Dr Davenport runs a six week baby clinic for mother and baby on a weekly basis.

Health Checks

If you are aged 40 to 74 years and are not already on the chronic disease register, we will provide a health examination. This checks that some of your body's most important systems are running smoothly. You will be invited for a health check over the next few years or you can telephone the surgery to book in.

If you are 75 years or over and do not attend the surgery for a regular review, our Health Care Assistants will check your blood pressure, weight, urine and talk to you about any health issues you may have.  Please contact reception if you wish to book

Heart Risk Screening

The Nursing Team performs checks which help us to assess your risk of coronary artery disease and offer preventative advice. Please ask for details.

Protection for the whole family is encouraged. This includes routine childhood scheduled vaccinations and clinics are held twice a week.  We also provide routine vaccinations for influenza, shingles and pneumonia as well as taking part in a wide range other government immunisation schemes.  Please ask for further details.

Family Planning

All the partners provide contraceptive advice and services. This is usually within the normal surgeries for confidentiality and convenience. “Coil” and implant fittings are carried out by pre-arrangement in our weekly family planning clinics.

Foreign Travel

Advice and immunisation may be necessary if you are travelling outside Northern Europe or North America. Enquire at reception at least nine weeks before you travel.

Maternity Services

All the partners offer full care in pregnancy and childbirth (with consultant referral if appropriate). It is wise to make some checks if you are planning a pregnancy e.g. immunity against Rubella and there may be some dietary and other lifestyle issues to consider. Appointments can be made for pre-pregnancy advice within our normal clinics.

Young Person's Telephone Advice Clinic
